Parfums de Marly Cup at Silver Leys Polo

For our first major event of 2018 over at Silver Leys Polo Club, we welcomed over 500 spectators and 16 teams to the newly sponsored Parfums de Marly Cup last weekend (19/20 May). Spectators were treated to a day of sunshine, enticing hospitality and plenty of polo action kept both the crowd and the players entertained all weekend. Alongside the tournament, Sunday also featured three school matches, showcasing many of the students who train with us in teams from Bishop's Stortford College, Felsted School, Queenswood School and Cambridge University.

Sunday’s results were as follows:

-

Old Stortfordians beat Old Felstedians 5 goals to 3. Rising star Edward Banner-Eve showing his class to make the difference, scoring from 120 yards out in one hit.

-

In the fledgling match, Queenswood School beat Bishops Stortford College 2 - 0

-

In the final of the Parfums de Marly Cup, team Parfums de Marly, with Rutland based professional Tom Collie at the helm, beat Continuum Insurance.

-

Finally, the most spectacular and nail biting game, was when Felsted School’s side took a much more experienced Cambridge University First Team to the ropes, with Cambridge clenching victory, 5 - 3 in the last few minutes.

“We are extremely keen to contribute to developing grassroots in polo and, as such, I feel the partnerships the club has with schools and universities is key in our role to ensure the longevity of our sport. It’s exciting and rewarding to see new young players join us in our passion for polo and watch them advance as players. I hope to see many of those youngsters enjoying a lifetime of polo.”  - Alec Banner-Eve

We were delighted to welcome new sponsor, Parfums de Marly on board, who were on hand to showcase their exquisite fragrances and, much to the delight of players, present teams with gifts and prizes for their efforts on the field.  Everyone came home smelling of roses, quite literally.

With the first few weekends under our belt and some exciting things to come this summer - we are very excited for the season ahead! Looking forward to the annual season highlight this weekend (2/3 June) with the St Ed's Cup and BSG Trophy, see you all down there!
