MHF and Silver Leys hosted the British Country Festival on 4th and 5th August in line with the John Mathies Memorial Cup - a season favourite. With new sponsors, Live Financial, on board and prizes donated by the Mathies family - the event was bigger than ever before.

The weekend was jam-packed with polo matches, an amateur dog show, bicycle polo, a few tugs of war and even some welly-wanging as the event drew to a close on Sunday. 11 teams battled for the memorial cup with “Continuum” (John Cooper, Mubarak Jan, Charlie Knott and Edward Banner-Eve) clinching the title in a dramatic final where they beat Eastwick Animal Feeds. Families from across Hertfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Essex relaxed in the sunshine enjoying produce from local trade stands and watching the weekend’s entertainment, with some fantastic picnics on display and a commentator on hand to explain the game, everyone had a fantastic weekend.

We are now looking forward to the Harvest Cup this weekend and eagerly anticipating the Imperial Wealth Planning Trophy at the start of September which will feature our end of season party! (yes we know it is early)
